How J&K Is Built
Every J&K cabinet is 100% solid wood. Here is what that means, part by part — the same build on the wall and base cabinets.
- 1Door panel — 3/4″ thick solid wood, full-overlay door.
- 2Door hinge — 6-way adjustable, soft-close, hidden Euro-style (B style uses a PIVOT-PRO clip-on with optional decorative cover).
- 3Adjustable shelf — 3/4″ cabinet-grade plywood, clear-coated, on metal shelf rests.
- 4Drawers — 5/8″ solid wood on all sides, dovetail construction.
- 5Drawer glide — 3/4-to-full-extension, soft-close, concealed undermount.
- 6Plywood box — 1/2″–5/8″ cabinet-grade plywood; clear-coat interior, matching-color exterior.
- 7Metal bracket — Corner-bracket reinforcements in base cabinets for stability.
- 8Door bumper — Quiet-closing bumpers that reduce slamming.
Door center panels are built as an all-wood reversed raised panel on the S and B styles, or a plywood center panel on the E styles — matched to each door design.
Finest Furniture Finishes
A Finish Rubbed in by Hand
J&K’s finishes go through a ten-step, hand-rubbed process closer to fine furniture than typical cabinetry — an equalizer stain to balance the wood, a toner for even color, a deep penetrating stain to draw out the grain, then hand-rubbing, sealing, hand-sanding, an optional hand-applied glaze, and a final top coat that resists scuffing, moisture, fading, and most household chemicals.
It’s made responsibly, too: J&K’s hardwood-plywood is EPA TSCA Title VI (CARB 2) compliant for formaldehyde, and the finishes use AkzoNobel coatings.
