Bertch Haze Bathroom Vanity Finish
Offered on Bertch’s Linea frameless vanities
Haze is a flat mid-gray foil with a quiet warm cast — closer to greige than to a cool slate. It carries no grain and no sheen, so the color is the only thing to read. It suits a bathroom that needs something in between a white vanity and a dark one.

Color & Look
Haze sits squarely in the middle of the value range: light enough to keep a room open, dark enough to hide what a white door would show. The undertone is warm. There is a little brown in the gray, which is what makes it read as greige rather than as the blue-leaning grays that were common a decade ago. That warmth is why it sits well with wood floors and with cream tile, and why it can look slightly dull beside a cool white quartz.
Under a single bathroom window this is a stable color. Mid-tone grays are forgiving: they do not blow out in direct daylight the way a white does, and they do not go flat and heavy at night the way a dark finish can. Warm bulbs pull the brown forward and it reads taupe; cool daylight pushes it toward true gray. A mirror bouncing light across the front changes very little, because the matte face returns light evenly.
People most often take Haze for a painted gray, and the second guess is usually concrete. There is no grain and no visible texture in the chip, so nothing reads as wood — it is a flat field of color with a soft, non-reflective surface. No glaze sits in a corner, because there is no corner for it to sit in. What you see on a chip is what you get on a full door front, at any size.
Series & Construction
Haze is one of Bertch’s matte & textured foils, offered on the Linea series. Linea is Bertch’s contemporary frameless collection — full-access European construction, flat slab and reveal doors, high-gloss acrylic and matte or textured foil, freestanding or wall-mounted.
Bertch builds these full-access frameless, with 5/8" solid hardwood drawer boxes dovetailed front and back and plywood floors, backs and shelves. Undermount soft-close drawer glides and concealed soft-close hinges come standard.
Every Bertch vanity is built to order in Waterloo, Iowa: configurations, storage solutions, tops and finishes are selected per project, nothing is off-the-shelf. Bertch warrants its products to be free from defects in material or workmanship for as long as they are owned by the original purchaser.
Where It Works
Haze is the finish we suggest when a client wants a bathroom vanity that is not white and not a statement. It works in a powder room without making the room feel small, and in a primary bath it holds its own against a large mirror and a long top. In a windowless room it is still safe, though we would keep the top light so that the vanity does not become the darkest thing in there.
Practically, a mid gray is the easiest color to live with near a sink. Water spots dry invisible on it, and the dust and lint that show on both black and white are simply not readable here. It is the low-maintenance choice of the Linea range. On Freya, Joss, Ridley or Sullivan the flat fronts keep the color uninterrupted, and a wall-mounted cabinet in Haze reads almost as a continuation of a gray tile wall.
Pairing Ideas
Vanity Top
Bertch White Ice — Veined Quartz lifts the gray and draws a clear top line. Bertch Solid White — Cultured Marble does the same more plainly, and Bertch Sea Salt — Oasis Solid Surface keeps it soft. Going darker, Bertch Nightfall — Oasis Solid Surface makes Haze read lighter than it is. Cambria Malvern — cream quartz is the slab route.
Bertch vanity tops →Sink & Bowl
Oasis solid surface tops are made with the bowl integrated into the deck, so you choose the bowl shape when you choose the top. Veined quartz and cultured marble take a separate undermount bowl. One bowl or two is a storage question before it is a style question: a second bowl takes out the center drawer bank.
Hardware & Legs
A mid gray takes hardware in either direction. The Berenson Bravo 56mm Brushed Nickel Pull sits quietly in the same temperature family; the Berenson 128mm Champagne Bar Pull warms it noticeably. For contrast, the Berenson Metro 160mm Matte Black Pull. Wood Leg 08 or Wood Leg 15 under a freestanding cabinet adds the grain the finish itself does not have.
Pulls & knobs →Mirror & Lighting
A mirror a touch narrower than the vanity keeps the top edge visible and stops the wall from feeling papered over. Put sconces beside it if the room allows. A gray vanity reflects less light upward than a white one, so an overhead fixture on its own leaves more shadow under the eyes than you might expect.
