Fabuwood Truffle Kitchen Cabinets
Available on Galaxy and Luna doors
A stain rather than a paint, Truffle lets the grain stay in the picture. The color lands in the middle of the brown range — warm, a little golden, nowhere near red. It suits people who want wood in the kitchen without the orange cast that older oak finishes carried.

Color & Look
Measured off the door, Truffle sits about midway between a pale natural and a dark walnut tone — medium in value, with a warm tan base and a soft golden-brown lean. There is no red in it, which is the first thing most people check. The grain lines run several shades darker than the field around them, so the door reads browner from across the room than it does with your nose against it.
North light is where this finish is most honest. Under it the golden note recedes and Truffle turns cooler and flatter, closer to a milk-chocolate brown. Put the same door in a south or west window and the warmth comes forward, the grain lightens, and the field picks up a honey cast late in the day. Warm bulbs at night push it back towards amber. We usually suggest looking at a sample at two different hours before deciding.
People most often take Truffle for a walnut. It is a stain over an open-pored hardwood, so the pores hold more color than the surface around them and telegraph through the finish as fine vertical lines on the frame and a broader, looser figure across the center panel. The sheen is low, matte enough that the surface never mirrors a window. Because the wood is real, boards vary; two doors hung side by side will not carry identical figure, and that variation is part of the finish rather than a fault.
Construction & Quality
Truffle is a Fabuwood Allure finish. It is available on Galaxy and Luna doors, all built on plywood cabinet boxes with solid-wood drawer boxes assembled with dovetail joints.
On the framed panel doors, the door frames are joined with mortise-and-tenon joinery. Every Fabuwood cabinet is fitted with Blum soft-close hinges and drawer systems. Fabuwood backs its cabinetry with a lifetime warranty, with a separate Blum warranty on the hardware, and lists CARB2 compliance and ICC-ES and AWI/QCP certification.
Fabuwood groups its colors in tiers: Truffle is a Signature color, the tier Fabuwood keeps in stock.
Where It Works
A full kitchen in Truffle works when there is daylight to spend. In a room with one small window it closes in quickly, so we more often run it on the base cabinets and the island and keep the wall cabinets in an off-white or a cream. That split puts the wood at eye level, where the grain is worth seeing, and keeps the upper half of the room light. The color also sits comfortably in transitional and craftsman kitchens, and in anything leaning rustic.
Outside the kitchen, Truffle carries well into a mudroom bench and lockers, where grain hides scuffs better than paint does, and into a study or a bar where a warmer, darker room is the point. In a small powder room, a single Truffle vanity against pale walls is enough wood to look deliberate without eating the light. We would think harder about a windowless laundry, where a mid-brown on every wall can feel heavy.
Pairing Ideas
Countertops
Bright white quartz gives the cleanest break. Cambria Sutherland is near-solid, so nothing competes with the grain, while Cambria Oakleigh adds marble-look veining if the run is long and you want movement. If bright white feels too cold against the wood, Cambria Warwick or Cambria Darlington in cream soften the line without going yellow.

White mosaics read crisply against brown. MSI Greecian White Basketweave Pattern Polished bounces light back at the cabinets, and MSI Renzo Sterling 3x12 is quieter, reading almost as a plain field from a few feet away. For a warmer room, MSI Honey Comb Hexagon Multi Finish in cream picks up the golden note in the stain.
Backsplash tile →Hardware
Brushed nickel is the safe read — Berenson Bravo 56mm sits on the wood without shouting. For warmth, the Berenson Swagger 96mm in brushed gold or the 128mm Champagne Bar Pull echo the gold already in the grain. Matte black gives the sharpest contrast, and the Berenson Swagger 160mm MDB in bronze stays closest to the wood tone itself.
Pulls & knobs →Floors
Keep a clear step between floor and cabinet. A hardwood floor within a shade or two of Truffle makes the lowers disappear, so go lighter with a pale engineered oak, or noticeably darker. Porcelain or ceramic tile in gray or greige sidesteps the problem entirely, and LVP does the same where you want something waterproof underfoot.
