Bertch Lighthouse Bathroom Vanity Finish

Offered on Bertch’s Classic and Furniture vanities

Lighthouse is a light neutral gray with no warm or cool lean worth naming. It is the plainest color in the painted range and the one that asks the least of a bathroom: brighter than a mid gray, softer than a white, and easy to match to almost any tile you have already chosen.

Color & Look

The color is a light gray sitting roughly midway between white and a mid-tone — pale enough to brighten a room, dark enough that it never gets mistaken for an off-white. What stands out is how neutral it is. There is no beige pulling it warm and no blue pulling it cool, which is rarer in a gray paint than people assume. The paint is opaque, so the surface reads as one even plane across the whole front.

Being neutral, Lighthouse takes its character from whatever light is in the room. Warm bulbs over a mirror give it a faint warmth without turning it greige; cool daylight sharpens it and it reads crisper, closer to a pale concrete. It also picks up color from its surroundings, so a green wall or a warm wood floor will tint the door faces slightly. That responsiveness is why it matches so many tiles, and why a swatch on its own tells you little.

People call it silver, dove or pale concrete, and all three are fair. It is most often confused with Harbor, which is the one with a green cast. Put them together and Lighthouse looks cleaner and a touch lighter while Harbor goes faintly sage. The sheen is a low satin, even across the whole face, with no texture and no glaze — nothing settles darker in a corner or along an edge.

Series & Construction

Lighthouse is one of Bertch’s painted colors, offered on the Classic and Furniture series. Classic is Bertch’s framed series, built in solid hardwood and offered in more door styles and finishes than any other — stains, painted colors and hand-applied glazes across eight wood species.

Bertch builds these on 3/4" solid hardwood door frames with raised or flat panels, 5/8" solid hardwood drawer boxes dovetailed front and back, and plywood floors, backs and shelves with a natural birch veneer interior. Undermount soft-close drawer glides and concealed soft-close hinges come standard.

Every Bertch vanity is built to order in Waterloo, Iowa: configurations, storage solutions, tops and finishes are selected per project, nothing is off-the-shelf. Bertch warrants its products to be free from defects in material or workmanship for as long as they are owned by the original purchaser.

Where It Works

Lighthouse is a safe choice for a windowless powder room, because it brightens almost as well as a white while hiding more. In a primary bath it reads calm and modern, and it is especially good where the tile is gray or the floor is a concrete look. It works equally on a floating vanity, where it reads contemporary, and on a freestanding one, where the neutrality lets the legs and the hardware carry the style.

It is the easiest pale finish to keep looking clean. Toothpaste and hard-water spray show less than on a true white, dust shows less than on anything dark, and nothing settles into grain because there is none. Among the Classic styles it is a natural on Craftwood for a plain modern bathroom and on Alden where a little detail is wanted. On Centennial it keeps a traditional door from reading formal.

Pairing Ideas

Vanity Top

Gray cabinetry gives you two routes. Match tone for tone with Bertch Pewter — Oasis Solid Surface, or break it with Bertch Platinum White — Cultured Marble or Bertch Chipped Ice — Veined Quartz for a bright counter. Bertch Carbon — Oasis Solid Surface flips the contrast and darkens the top instead. For a custom slab, Vicostone Merazo — gray quartz holds the neutral scheme together.

Sink & Bowl

Oasis tops arrive with the bowl integrated, so counter and basin are one continuous surface with no rim seam — the tidiest option over a neutral cabinet. Cultured marble and veined quartz take undermount bowls instead. If you are considering two bowls, know that the second one usually replaces the center drawer bank, which is the storage people miss most.

Hardware & Legs

A true neutral takes any metal, so choose on mood rather than on match. The Berenson Metro 160mm Matte Black Pull gives the sharpest, most modern line. The Berenson Bravo 56mm Brushed Nickel Pull all but disappears. The Berenson Swagger 96mm Modern Brushed Gold Pull warms a cool gray noticeably. Bertch’s Metal Leg or the Mid-Century Modern Leg Base both suit it.

Mirror & Lighting

With a neutral vanity the mirror can carry the room’s character, so a frame with some presence earns its place. Keep it narrower than the counter and center it on the bowl. Sconces beside the glass give even light on a face, where an overhead fixture alone makes a gray vanity look duller than it is.

Frequently Asked Questions

Neither, really. It is close to a true neutral, which is why it matches so widely. In a room with warm bulbs it picks up a little warmth, and under daylight it reads cooler. If you need a gray that holds a warm cast on its own, Lighthouse is not it. If you want one that goes along with whatever tile you have chosen, it is.
Harbor has a green cast and sits a shade darker. Lighthouse is cleaner and more neutral. In isolation most people cannot tell them apart, but side by side on the same wall the difference is immediate, with Harbor looking faintly sage and Lighthouse looking like plain gray. We would put both samples in your bathroom before you choose.
Gray has been the default neutral long enough that some people are tired of it, and a blue-gray dates faster than a true one. Lighthouse is neutral enough to behave like a pale background color rather than a trend. In a bathroom it is also a single piece of furniture, so changing your mind later is a smaller job than it sounds.
