Mantra Classic Shaker Cabinet Door

Partial-overlay shaker with a timeless, traditional line

Classic is the quieter, older-feeling of Mantra’s two doors. The same square shaker panel, but set on a partial overlay, so a band of cabinet frame shows around every front. It suits rooms where you want the cabinetry to look built rather than applied.

Design & Profile

The panel sits noticeably deeper here, and the shoulder around it is wider and more clearly angled than a plain square step. That one change does most of the work: the opening throws a real shadow, so the panel reads as recessed from several feet away rather than only up close. The outer edges of the front are softened rather than knife-sharp, which suits the traditional intent.

The drawer front is a plain slab — no frame, no panel, just a flat face. Against the panelled door below it, that contrast is deliberate: the eye gets one simple band at the top of each base cabinet and detail underneath. It also keeps shallow drawers from looking crowded, which is the usual trouble with a framed drawer front on a narrow opening.

Partial overlay is the defining feature. Each front covers only part of the cabinet frame, so a border of frame shows around and between them. You end up reading a grid of separate openings instead of a continuous plane, which is exactly the older, furniture-built look — and it is more forgiving of a door that sits a hair off, because there is no long shared reveal for the eye to measure against.

Series & Construction

Classic is one of two door styles Mantra builds, both framed shakers. It is a partial-overlay door with a 2-1/4" rail and a slab drawer front, offered in two colors.

Mantra is part of the MasterBrand family and is built on plywood construction — ½″ plywood ends and ¾″ plywood adjustable shelves — with a solid-wood dovetail drawer box. Doors and drawers are soft-closing as standard, on 6-way adjustable hinges and under-mount full-extension guides.

Mantra is ICC-ES certified to ANSI A161.1 and carries a limited 5-year warranty; coverage and terms are set by Mantra.

Frequently Asked Questions

You see a band of painted cabinet frame around every door and drawer, so the run reads as a series of framed openings rather than one unbroken surface. It is the look most people associate with older, built-in cabinetry. It also hides small alignment differences better, because no two fronts share a long continuous gap for your eye to follow.
That is simply how Mantra’s catalog lists it: Classic is offered in Snow and Hammock, while Omni carries the full palette of eight. If the color you want is not one of those two, the choice is between changing color and changing door — and on the Omni door you would be trading the exposed frame for a tighter, full-overlay look.
No, it is a different intention. A slab front gives the eye somewhere to rest above a panelled door, and it stays clean on shallow drawers where a frame and panel would be squeezed. If you specifically want the drawer to echo the door, Omni’s 5-piece front does that instead.
