Costs & Budget

How much does a kitchen remodel cost?

Kitchen remodels typically range from $15,000 to $75,000 or more, depending on the size of your kitchen, the materials you choose, whether you are changing the layout, and the level of finish. A simple cabinet and countertop refresh will be on the lower end, while a full gut renovation with custom cabinetry, premium countertops, and new flooring will be higher. We provide a detailed, transparent estimate during your free consultation so there are never surprises.

How much does a bathroom remodel cost?

Bathroom remodels generally range from $3,000 for a simple vanity and fixture update to $50,000 or more for a full primary bathroom renovation with custom tile, a walk-in shower, double vanity, and premium fixtures. The scope, materials, and size of the bathroom are the biggest factors. We will walk through your options and pricing during a free consultation.

Do you offer financing?

We can discuss payment options during your consultation. Our goal is to help you find a comfortable path forward for your project, regardless of budget. Every homeowner's situation is different, and we are happy to work with you to find an approach that fits.

Is the consultation free?

Yes, completely free. There is no cost, no obligation, and no pressure. We will listen to your ideas, show you materials in our showroom, and follow up with a 3D rendering and detailed estimate — all at no charge. Schedule your free consultation here.

Showroom & Getting Started

Can I see cabinets and materials before buying?

Absolutely. Our Wheaton showroom at 238 E Geneva Rd has full cabinet displays, countertop slabs, flooring samples, hardware, and more. Seeing and touching materials in person is one of the best ways to make confident decisions. We carry collections from Fabuwood, J&K, Forevermark, Cambria, Vicostone, MSI, and more.

Do I need an appointment to visit the showroom?

No, walk-ins are always welcome during business hours (Mon–Fri 9am–6pm, Sat 10am–4pm, Sun by appointment). However, if you would like dedicated one-on-one time with a designer, we recommend scheduling an appointment so we can give you our full attention and prepare for your visit.

What should I bring to the showroom?

If you have them, bring rough measurements of your space, photos of your current kitchen or bathroom, any inspiration images you have saved (Pinterest boards work great), a general budget range, and a list of questions. Do not worry if you do not have everything — we can work with whatever you bring and help fill in the gaps.

How do I get started?

There are three easy ways to get started: call us at (630) 733-7700, fill out the consultation form on our website, or simply walk into our Wheaton showroom during business hours. We will take it from there and guide you through every step of the process.

Cabinets

What is the difference between stock, semi-custom, and custom cabinets?

Stock cabinets come in fixed sizes and limited finishes — they are the most affordable option. Semi-custom cabinets offer more size options, finishes, and organizational features at a mid-range price. Custom cabinets are built to your exact specifications with unlimited design possibilities. Most of our clients find that semi-custom cabinets offer the best balance of quality, selection, and value. Visit our cabinetry page to learn more.

What cabinet styles do you offer?

We carry a wide range of styles including shaker, raised panel, flat panel (slab), and frameless European designs. Our collections include Fabuwood, J&K, Forevermark, and CCC Cabinets, with dozens of door styles and finishes to choose from — from classic white to bold navy, natural wood tones, and everything in between.

How can I tell if cabinets are good quality?

Look at the construction method (plywood box vs. particleboard), the drawer system (soft-close, full-extension ball-bearing slides), the hinge quality (European concealed hinges are a good sign), and the finish durability. We will show you the difference in person at our showroom so you can feel the difference between budget and premium construction firsthand.

Do you offer cabinet refacing?

Yes, cabinet refacing is available as an alternative to full replacement. If your existing cabinet boxes are structurally sound, refacing lets you update the doors, drawer fronts, and finish for a fresh look at a lower cost. We will help you evaluate whether refacing or full replacement makes more sense for your situation during a consultation.

Countertops & Materials

What countertop materials do you offer?

We carry quartz (Cambria, Vicostone, MSI), granite, marble, quartzite, and porcelain surfaces. Each material has different characteristics for durability, maintenance, and appearance. Visit our countertops page to compare options, or come see full slabs in our showroom.

Quartz vs. granite — which is better?

Both are excellent choices. Quartz is engineered, non-porous, and requires no sealing — it is ideal for busy kitchens with kids. Granite is a natural stone with unique veining and character, but it does require periodic sealing. The best choice depends on your lifestyle, aesthetic preference, and how much maintenance you want. We can show you both side by side in our showroom.

Can I replace countertops without replacing cabinets?

Yes, countertop replacement is available as a standalone service. If your cabinets are in good shape and you are happy with the layout, new countertops can make a dramatic difference on their own. We will template, fabricate, and install your new surfaces — it is one of the highest-impact upgrades you can make.

The Process

What does your remodeling process look like?

Our process has four main steps: (1) Consultation — we meet with you, listen to your goals, and assess your space. (2) Design — we create a 3D rendering and detailed plan. (3) Source — we order materials and coordinate lead times. (4) Install — our crew handles the build from demo to final walkthrough. We keep you informed at every stage so there are no surprises.

What should I expect during construction?

Expect some dust, noise, and temporary disruption — especially during a kitchen remodel. We recommend setting up a temporary kitchen area with a microwave, mini-fridge, and disposable plates. Our crew works clean, communicates daily, and respects your home. Most clients tell us the process was smoother than they expected.

Can I change the scope of the project mid-way?

We understand that ideas evolve during a project. Changes are handled through a simple change order process — we will discuss the impact on timeline and cost before proceeding, so there are no surprises. The earlier a change is made, the easier it is to accommodate. Our team is flexible and will work with you to get the result you want.

Timeline & Scheduling

How long does a kitchen remodel take?

A typical kitchen remodel takes 6 to 10 weeks from start to finish. This includes 1–2 weeks of design and planning, 3–5 weeks for material lead times (cabinets, countertops), and 2–3 weeks of on-site installation. Simpler projects like a cabinet and countertop swap can be faster, while complex layout changes or full gut renovations may take longer.

When is the best time to start planning?

We recommend starting the planning process 2 to 3 months before your desired start date to allow time for design, material selection, and ordering. Spring and fall are the most popular seasons for remodeling, so booking early ensures you get your preferred timeline. That said, we welcome conversations at any time of year.

Installation

Who handles the installation?

Finemark's own experienced installation crew handles every project. We do not subcontract our work to outside labor. This means consistent quality, direct accountability, and a team that knows our standards inside and out. When you hire Finemark, you get Finemark — from design through installation.

Do you offer a warranty?

Yes, we stand behind both our materials and our installation. Specific warranty terms vary by product manufacturer, but we ensure that every component of your project is covered. If something is not right, we will make it right. That is the benefit of working with a family-owned company that has been here for over 40 years.
